After printing away in the studio until the late hours of last night, my new art prints are ready and for sale in my SHOP. I think they came out rather pretty after figuring out which colour combinations would look best. In the end I settled for orange & fuschia and blue & lime green. The design was drawn by hand, scanned and reworked in photoshop to produce the photostencil, after which it was printed by hand using traditional screen printing methods. More information on my website www.mengsel.com as well. This is an edition of 30 of each colour. Hope you like them?

Cosas Minimas by Blanca Gomez
craftyFOLK
Yesterday, Sarah Golden from craftyFOLK posted a really nice article about my work on her blog. I had a look at her Etsy shop and I absolutely love her designs. As you all know, I love old school gadgets, so her hand drawn typewriter Leica camera designs are absolutely charming. Illustrator/surface pattern designer Sarah works from her home studio in the West Coast, USA. Here are a few of her very pretty designs: Enjoy!

Superette, Cape Town
Superette is a neighbourhood café in Woodstock, Cape Town where you can find an assortment of your favourite market produce and specialty foods. Found these beautiful interior shots of the cafe on their website: www.superette.co.za. This makes me REALLY homesick for beautiful Cape Town.

Etsy find: Folk Art Berggren Percolator - Vintage by Crafts Cafe
Okay, so everybody knows that I love coffee. (Hence the Moka Express prints). Another thing that I love is folksy vintage Scandinavian style decor. How cute is this vintage enamelware percolater coffee pot featuring bright Scandinavian folk art by Etsy seller Craftscafe?

Mengsel now available at Tenderproduct, Covent Garden
I'm pleased to announce that Mengsel products are now available at the wonderful Tenderproduct store at 6 Cecil Court, WC2N 4HE, London. Tenderproduct also has a great online shop with some really fun designs. The shop showcases the creations and wares of the most distinct emerging talent in Art and Design and is a great place in central London to find art and design books and limited-print publications.
My husband Nico and I were in the area on Sunday, so I decided to show him the shop. As it was a Sunday, it was closed, but I was so happy to see my "i heart robot" pillow case set and "retro roosters" designs hanging in the shop window. He just took this little snap with his phone of me standing in front of the store looking like the typical dork that I am.
Have a great weekend!

Bon Apetit
Over the weekend, I watched Julie and Julia with my husband. Meryl Streep is amazing and hillarious and I recognise a lot of myself in the Julie character. (Loved the part where she blamed ADD for being really bad at housework.) Sounds really cheesy, but it is a very inspiring movie and made me realise that I CAN do something that makes me happy. Anywho... I found this really cute print featuring Julia in "Bon Apetit" cooking mode on Etsy by elloh.
