Snaps from my visit to Drink, Shop & Do

Last week, during London Fashion Week, I paid a little visit to the charming new Drink, Shop and Do. I've blogged about them before, because my prints are stocked there. I had some coffee and smoked salmon sandwiches made from the softest white bread ever. Delicious! Have a look at my visit below. Really think that Mengsel's prints are a good fit for this quirky, retro, vintage space.  See if you can spot them all in the pictures. Charming indeed.

colours of the rainbow

Feels like this year started only a couple of weeks ago and now I'm already getting my shop ready for Christmas. Craziness. This week, I've been experimenting with one of my best selling designs by silkscreen printing onto beautifully coloured Fabriano Tiziano paper. I really like the results! You can see the lovely texure of the paper in the close up below. Wish I had a white frame to put them in for the photographs, because I think that would look fabulous.

So far, I've only printed one in each colour and listed only the one colour for sale only in my Etsy shop, the latte coloured version:

The other colours will follow shortly and I will keep you up to date. The colours are: latte, red, turquoise, dark slate grey, dark moka brown. (Only one of each). I might print a full edition, so let me know which colour you like best. Hope you like them...

100% Norway at 100% Design

Yesterday, I took some time out to visit 100% Design at Earl's Court. One of the coolest things I saw there was Siren Elise Wilhelmsen's 365 - a Knitting Clock. Exhibiting with 100% Norway, this immediately caught my attention. By the end of the year, the clock has produced a 2 metre long scarf. The inspiration for Wilhelmsen's clock - measuring the time in a three-dimensional form; in volume. The clock counts the 24 hourse per day, for each half and whole hour a needle is knitting a stitch, each day makes one knitted line. How innovative!

Joelle Jolivet illustrations

Completely fell in love with the work of French illustrator Joelle Jolivet (even her name is beautiful). The website is designed so cleverly and it just makes you want to click on every item and look inside every window to see what's hiding behind it. Jolivet studied graphic art and advertising at the School of Applied Arts in Paris, followed by a stint in the lithography workshop at the Beaux Arts. Lino-cutting is her main mode of expression.Gorgeous!

Colour of the day: macaroon pink

When Etsy customer Erica asked me to print a custom colour of my Leafy Heart design for her new baby girl's bedroom, I was thrilled. I've been looking at the colours of macaroons recently (yum) and working with the colour swatch that was given to me, knew that this colour could have only one name: Macaroon Pink. Here are some  beautiful images and recipes of pink macaroons plus an introduction to my new Leafy Heart print (signed edition of 30). Learning how to make them is definitely on my to-do-list. Available in the Mengsel Etsy Shop. Happy weekend everybody!

Folksy Friday: Getting ready for Autumn/Winter 2010

Get ready for the cold months ahead with these adorable knits from Folksy. They actually make me excited about Winter!
